Packing/Processing

Our union of Food Processing and Packing workers across Washington, who keep dinner on our tables have fought for and won:

• Stronger wage increases, lower healthcare costs and bigger contributions to pension and retirement plans. 

• Safer working conditions, by taking management head-on and providing more training on worker rights and contract education. 

• Historic pay increases for critical meat, poultry, food processing and laundry workers.

• Expansion of communication and language access to make our workplace stronger and better organized. 

• More power across the food chain by recruiting and training more leaders in our workplaces. 

Going forward join the fight alongside Food Processing and Packing workers across the Washington to:

• Win enforceable safety standards with better protections and tougher consequences for violations.

• Strengthen immigration protections, defending and protecting immigrant workers on the job.

• Improve scheduling and workload protections, end forced overtime and unsafe production speeds.

• Win higher wages, better healthcare and stronger retirement for hard work, that reflects the risks and demands of the job.

• Raise standards across the entire industry by organizing more Food Processing and Packing workers into our union. 

• Fight for more affordable housing.
